In the summer of 2018, while vacationing in my hometown in Israel, I created the Abjectification series, which was a direct response to the creation of an offshore gas facility that spurred nation-wide social protests. The work consisted in photographed performance art that reflected the pervasive disgust at and resistance against the ecological violence that this industrial endeavour threatened, along with its concomitant treatment of people as mere objects, whose wellbeing is being systemically neglected in the service of the selfish interests of a few. After being showcased at the Ein Hod gallery and receiving attention in local media, a selection of three works from this series was chosen as the main artistic feature at the mass rally held at Rabin Square in Tel Aviv, on Saturday, September 1st.
